2012-13 Boyd PTA Projects & Committees



Auction/ Chili Cook-off Chair

Plan the auction and chili cook-off with assistance of committee.  Will need to contact businesses to acquire auction items.

Auction/Chili Cook-off Committee

Assist with set-up, work the event or clean up.  Will also assist in planning, acquiring items for auction and possibly item pick-up (if needed).

Book Fair Chair

Schedule book fairs with Scholastic, set-up, work the fair and clean-up.  Make sure that payments are completed as required.

Book Fairs

Assist with set-up, work the fair or clean up.  Fairs are held during Open House and Family Night

Box Tops for Education

Collection of the box tops, counting & mailing to General Mills.

Carnival Volunteer

Assists with setup/booth games/ticket sales/food sales as assigned (usually 2 hour shifts)

Family Dance

Assist with set-up, serving or clean-up the Family Dance

Field Day*

Assist the PE teacher with activities, games & special events.  Held in the Spring.

Fundraiser Chair

Coordinate the Fall Fundraiser and Auction/Chili Cook-off  Fundraiser.  Required to work with vendors and PTA President or Vice President in planning process.

Fundraiser Distribution

Assist with filling orders on delivery day.

Grandparent’s Day*

Assist in planning or work at this November event in which Grandparents are invited to lunch.

Hy-Vee Receipts Collection

Collect and submit receipts from Hy-Vee during the "Cash 4 Students" program in the winter.

Kindergarten Round-Up*

Assist Kindergarten classes & school secretary with Round-Up activities.

Membership Coordinator

Recruit new members for the PTA and assist current and future members with information about current PTA volunteer opportunities.


You are available to help with any project.  Please note availability.

Open House Activities

Assist with activities the evening of Open House.  You will still have time to visit classrooms.

Parent/Teacher Conference Dinner

Provide dinner item(s) during parent teacher conferences, which are held 2 times during the school year.

Reading Helper

Assist students with reading.  You will work one-on-one with students.

Room Parent*

Plan & help with 2 yearly parties (Halloween/October, Valentine’s Day/February)

School Directory

Complete directory using information submitted by Boyd families.



Sign Volunteer

Update the changeable letter sign in front of the school, as needed.

Sixth Grade Recognition

Work on a committee to plan & carry out 6th grade recognition program (Spring).

6th Grade Recognition
(5th Grade Support)*

Provide support during 6th Grade Recognition.  Assist with refreshment set-up & clean-up, so 6th Grade parents & family can enjoy the recognition program & refreshments.  Fifth grade parents may shadow the committee to prepare for the following year.

Spirit Items

Assist Spirit Chair with selling items at school functions.  May assist with inventory.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Chair*

Serve as committee chair for the Teacher Appreciation luncheon.  Responsible for budgeting & leading committee members.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation*

Serve on a committee to organize & carry out a teacher appreciation luncheon in March.

Treat Bag Committee

Assist with completion and/or delivery of holiday treat bags (3-4 times a year).

Wenninghoff Pumpkin Patch

Assist with set-up, work the food sales or clean up
